See the 2014 Poverty Guidelines
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services hasĀ announced updated poverty guidelines effective Jan. 22, 2014. The poverty guideline figure for a family of two is $15,730 for the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia. In Alaska, the figure for a family of two is $19,660, and, in Hawaii, that figure is $18,090. The poverty guidelines are used in determining eligibility for various federal programs and for benefits such as economic hardship deferment and the income-based, income-contingent and Pay As You Earn repayment plans.
