Financial Aid Associations Honor USA Funds Staffers

Two USA Funds® staff members recently received special recognition from associations of financial aid administrators in Hawaii and Alabama.

The Pacific Financial Aid Association honored USA Funds President and CEO Carl Dalstrom with a lifetime membership in the organization.  PacFAA recognized Dalstrom, a former financial aid administrator, for his support of the profession and USA Funds’ longstanding support of the financial aid community in Hawaii.

Dalstrom also delivered the keynote address during PacFAA’s spring conference. He will retire June 30 after serving nearly 13 years as USA Funds president and CEO.

The Alabama Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators presented USA Funds Regional Training Executive Lissa Powell with the John H. Buchanan Jr. Distinguished Service Award.

Named for a former Alabama congressman who served on the U.S. House Education Committee during the 1970s and 1980s, the award is one of the two highest honors given by the association. The John H. Buchanan Jr. Distinguished Service Award is presented to an individual or group, not generally considered a practicing student financial aid administrator, in recognition of outstanding and dedicated service in the area of student financial aid over a sustained period of time.
