Available at no cost, the courses offer helpful tips and activities to instruct students who may be working in an office setting for the first time. The courses also serve as refreshers to other employees who may need to refine their skills.
Many of the courses teach skills that can be transferrable to the student-employee’s personal life, such as time management, better communication and how to handle difficult situations.
‘FERPA and Confidentiality’
The “003: Introduction to FERPA and Confidentiality” course is particularly helpful for student-employees who have no previous experience dealing with confidential records. Maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of student records is a critical responsibility for all employees of postsecondary institutions. This course explains the importance of confidentiality, provides a high-level summary of the regulations set forth by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, and describes how those regulations specifically affect student-employees.
