USA Funds Life Skills Earns Gold Medal for Learning Excellence
USA Funds® Life Skills® has received a gold medal in a program that recognizes outstanding learning tools.
The Brandon Hall Group 2013 Excellence in Learning Awards Program named USA Funds’ financial literacy and student success curriculum a gold medal winner as an Extended Enterprise Learning Program. Learning programs in that category target audiences other than internal employees.
The Brandon Hall Group Excellence in Learning Awards recognize organizations that have successfully developed and deployed programs, strategies, processes, systems and tools that have achieved measurable results. Learning, talent and business executives often refer to the program as the “Academy Awards” of learning program honors.
“We are extremely proud to honor our 2013 award-winning organizations for their remarkable achievements,” says Mike Cooke, chief executive officer of Brandon Hall Group Inc. “This elite group of organizations excelled in developing measurable, sustainable programs that produced outstanding business results."
A panel of veteran, independent senior industry experts, Brandon Hall Group senior analysts and executive leadership evaluated the entries, based on the following criteria:
  • Fit the need.
  • Design of the program.
  • Functionality.
  • Innovation.
  • Overall measurable benefits.

Nike, Shell Oil, Hewlett-Packard and E*TRADE are among other companies whose efforts this year’s awards program honored.

USA Funds partnered with its learning management system provider, SumTotal, on the award submission. The USA Funds Life Skills entry highlighted the significant growth in use of the product, as well as its ability to measure learning impact and reduction in cost to provide the training to students.

The online USA Funds Life Skills curriculum equips institutions to teach their students to manage their time and money wisely while on campus and after graduation.

The program provides schools with regular reports about student usage, learning assessments, and course completion rates. Since moving to its current online platform, in 2009, more than 117,000 students at colleges and universities throughout the nation have completed nearly 400,000 USA Funds Life Skills courses.
