With a $276,297 grant from USA Funds®, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities will infuse college value and its importance for promoting student success into two of the association’s leadership development programs.
AASCU’s Millennium Leadership Initiative is a premier leadership development program designed to help qualified, senior higher education administrators ascend to the presidency or chancellorship at colleges and universities. USA Funds’ grant will support regional symposia focusing on policies and practices for measuring college value and promoting student success. In addition, the MLI training institute will incorporate a curriculum developed with USA Funds’ support on how campus leaders can measure college value. Participants will then conduct a nine-month project to assess college value on their own campuses and make recommendations for change as a result of the assessment.
AASCU’s Emerging Leaders Program is designed for early- to mid-career professionals and faculty leaders who want to advance their careers in higher education administration. With USA Funds support, this program also will incorporate a curriculum on policies and practices for measuring college value and promoting student success.
The expected results of the three-year grant initiative include a greater focus among campus leaders on enhancing the value of the college programs their institutions deliver to students by measuring the outcomes of the education their students receive and by redesigning curricula that better aligns with workforce needs. Each program is expected to serve between 150-180 college administrators annually.
