Fong, Grigsby join governing board of nation's largest education-loan guarantor

Butler University President, Education-Policy Expert Join USA Funds Board

INDIANAPOLIS — USA Funds®, the nation's leading education-loan guarantor, has announced the election of Bobby Fong, president of Butler University, and Marshall C. Grigsby, president and CEO of Grigsby & Associates, LLC, to its board of trustees.

Bobby FongFong has served as president of Butler University since June 2001. Located in Indianapolis, Butler is a coeducational, liberal arts and sciences-based, private university with an enrollment of more than 4,200 students.

The first American-born child of Chinese immigrants, Fong received a bachelor's degree in English from Harvard University and earned a doctorate in English literature from the University of California-Los Angeles. Beginning in 1978, Fong served in academic and administrative positions at Berea College in Berea, Ky.; Hope College in Holland, Mich.; and Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., where he was dean of the faculty and professor of English prior to accepting the presidency at Butler.

Marshall GrigsbyGrigsby leads a Silver Spring, Md.-based consulting firm that specializes in educational-policy issues and the legislative process. Grigsby spent nearly 25 years in higher-education administration at Howard University in Washington, D.C.; Hampton University in Hampton, Va.; and Benedict College in Columbia, S.C., where he served as president. He subsequently served as senior legislative associate for higher education for the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce. In that capacity, he participated in the development of all higher-education-related legislation that came before the 104th, 105th and 106th Congresses.

Grigsby received his undergraduate education at Morehouse College in Atlanta, and earned master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Chicago.
