New Web site offers expert college-planning help to students and families
Kansas Wiredscholar Now Online
INDIANAPOLIS — Kansas families now have access to a new Web resource to help them plan and pay for higher education. Kansas Wiredscholar is a cooperative effort of USA Funds®, the designated guarantor of federal education loans for Kansas, and wiredscholar.com, the foremost online resource for "going-to-college" information.
"Families can go online to examine the wide range of higher-education options offered in the state, explore career options, and learn about student-aid and college-savings programs," said Carl C. Dalstrom, USA Funds president and CEO.
Kansas Wiredscholar was developed in consultation with financial-aid administrators at Kansas colleges and universities, education lenders and representatives of the Kansas Board of Education and Kansas Board of Regents.
The site contains step-by-step tutorials on the entire college-planning process, including applying for college, preparing academically and financially for college, and repaying student loans. Kansas Wiredscholar provides access to helpful college-planning tools, including a school-comparison tool, school-affordability analyzer, free online scholarship search, as well as a variety of interactive calculators and checklists.
Visitors to the site can register to receive via e-mail a free, monthly, college-planning newsletter.
"Consistent with USA Funds' mission in support of access to higher education, we're pleased to offer this college-planning Web site for Kansas students and parents," Dalstrom said.
