USA Funds®' Default-Prevention Council is devoted to debt-management endeavors, which include the development of USA Funds Life Skills® and the use of predictive modeling to identify borrowers who are likely to default.
USA Funds established the council in 2000 as part of a multi-year initiative to help schools lower their default rates.
Representatives of historically black colleges and universities, private career schools and other postsecondary institutions work together with debt-management experts and consultants on the council.
Default Prevention Council meetings for 2008 will be held as follows:

- June 13, Webex meeting from 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Eastern time (8:45 a.m.- 10:30 a.m., Pacific time).
- July 18, Webex meeting from 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Eastern time (8:45 a.m.- 10:30 a.m., Pacific time).
