Step 5. Prepare Realistic Timelines and Allocate Resources

The establishment of realistic timelines and sufficient resources equate to expectations that campus retention goals will be achieved. Insufficient commitment of both human and financial resources is one of the primary reasons retention efforts fail to attain the desired outcomes.

The plans that must be developed and shared campuswide as part of a comprehensive retention effort include:

   A. Immediate-Action Plan.
   B. Three-Year Action Plan.
   C. Resource-Allocation Plan.

Retention-Goal Worksheets should be developed for each of the three plans.
