USA Funds University Presents Customer-Service Webcasts

USA Funds® University will offer customer-service webcasts in July and August to help financial-aid staff provide outstanding service to students and other campus constituents.

The free sessions — each of which will be from 2-3 p.m. EDT on its scheduled days — will cover the following topics:

Communication skills for the financial-aid office — July 12 and July 26. This session will teach:

  • Listening, probing and open- and close-ended questions to get to the root of the customer need.
  • Dealing with challenging students by understanding the motives behind their behavior.
  • Listening to understand and speaking to be understood.
  • Bringing out the best in people at their worst.

Stress management in the financial-aid office — July 14 and July 28. This webcast will cover:

  • The effects of stress.
  • Ways to counteract the effects of stress.
  • How some stress can be beneficial.

A brief quiz will assess your personal stress level.

Time management in the financial-aid office — July 19 and Aug. 2. This session will focus on:

  • Time “stealers.”
  • Planning your work.
  • Organizing and prioritizing.
  • Conquering procrastination.

Coaching techniques for leaders — July 21 and Aug. 4. The focus of this webcast will be:

  • Understanding motives behind behaviors.
  • Building employee commitment.
  • Coaching better performance.
