USA Funds Scholarship Recipients Selected by Independent Administrator

USA Funds Access to Education ScholarshipUSA Funds® recently announced the award of more than $8.3 million in scholarships to help 5,623 low-to-moderate-income students nationwide pursue higher education during the 2007-2008 academic year.

Recipients of USA Funds Access to Education Scholarships® are selected by Scholarship Management Services, an independent scholarship administrator, which is a division of Scholarship America. The scholarship administrator applies general criteria established by USA Funds in the selection of scholarship recipients. USA Funds’ staff and trustees have no role in the selection of individual students to receive the scholarship awards, however.

USA Funds’ scholarships are awarded to individual students, not to postsecondary institutions to distribute to their students. Scholarships are awarded without regard to whether the postsecondary institutions in which the scholarship recipients are enrolled or plan to enroll have any business relationship with USA Funds, and without regard to whether the recipients have received or have applied for federal student loans guaranteed by USA Funds.

Decisions regarding the renewal of existing scholarship awards also are made by our independent scholarship administrator, not by USA Funds’ staff or trustees.

USA Funds sponsors this national scholarship program to further its nonprofit mission to enhance preparation for, access to and success in higher education.
