USA Funds Shares Policy on Submitting Fax and Electronic Copies of Death Certificates With Death Claims

USA Funds®’ policy staff advises that USA Funds cannot accept fax or electronic copies of death certificates with death claims.

In accordance with student loan regulations published Nov. 1, USA Funds has announced that it permits lenders to file death claims using copies of original death certificates, or copies of certified copies of death certificates.

The U.S. Department of Education, however, has indicated that lenders may not submit fax or e-copies of death certificates because of their vulnerability to alteration.
