Download Data From USA Funds Debt Manager to Update FAMS

Financial-aid administrators can create files of various data elements stored in USA Funds Debt Manager®, to download and enter into their own Financial Aid Management Systems.

A recent enhancement to USA Funds Debt Manager permits users to create files of data, such as demographic and communication-history comments from the Web-based tool.

To create the file, select the data elements that you want to copy to your FAMS, and USA Funds Debt Manager will generate the information in an XML file format that you can import to your FAMS. XML, or Extensible Markup Language, files — the industry-standard format — allow data to be easily exchanged with other applications via the Web.

Begin the process of creating a file of data from USA Funds Debt Manager by indicating to the tool the type of information that you would like to include in the XML file. To indicate the information to include, create an Export Strategy within USA Funds Debt Manager.

  1. Select Strategies.
  2. Select Export Strategies.
  3. Click the Create Export Strategy button.

    Create Export Strategy

  4. Enter a name for the strategy.
  5. Select from the options presented the settings you want for the file. Setting choices include the frequency for the file to be generated and the types of loans and data to be included.

Note that you have the option to generate this file On Demand, which means the file will generate at the top of the hour after you manually submit the request through the On Demand Export Request Screen.

    Add Export Strategy

  6. Click the Save button.

After your file is generated, download the file from USA Funds Debt Manager following these steps:

  1. Select Work Queues.
  2. Select Current Queues.
  3. Select Export Queue from the Queue Type drop-down menu.
  4. Click the Download Export button.

Download Export Strategy

Now the data has been downloaded and is ready to be imported into your FAMS. You can choose where the data is applied in your system.
