Content in Borrower Reports Still Reflects Partial Block of NSLDS Access

Although online access to the National Student Loan Data System has been restored for guarantors and their service providers, access to the file used to generate correspondence through the Borrower Debt Management Information Service remains suspended. During this suspension, that correspondence is providing students with information that reflects only their loans guaranteed by USA Funds®.

Until the NSLDS access required for more-complete BDMIS reports is restored, affected schools should advise their students to visit NSLDS directly, at www.nslds.ed.gov, to get a full listing of their total student-loan debt.

USA Funds has requested that the U.S. Department of Education restore access to NSLDS data provided through the guarantor Financial Aid Transcript-request process. That data is used to provide students with information about their student-loan indebtedness, through the BDMIS — or “Know What You Owe” correspondence. Schools may request this service from USA Funds.

USA Funds also is directly notifying schools that use the BDMIS of the current status of the NSLDS access.
