Report: 66 Percent Received College Aid in 2007-2008
Sixty-six percent of college undergraduates received some type of aid to help pay education costs during 2007-2008, according to a new report from the National Center for Education Statistics. The 2007-08 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study: Student Financial Aid Estimates for 2007-08 notes that the average amount of financial aid students received totaled $9,100. Nearly half of all undergraduates received federal student aid, with 34 percent taking out Stafford loans totaling an average of $5,000.
