Online Course Reviews FAFSA-Filing Basics for Aid Administrators and College Goal Sunday Volunteers

As prospective college students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, financial-aid administrators may find it helpful to reacquaint themselves with FAFSA-filing basics. Financial-aid professionals who plan to assist students with their applications can take the USA Funds® online course “Understanding the FAFSA” to review the application process.

“During this season, ‘Understanding the FAFSA’ is a perfect resource for financial-aid professionals,” says Barbara Thompson, USA Funds University manager. “The course serves as a step-by-step guide for staff members who may be new to the filing process or as a quick refresher for veteran administrators.”

The “Understanding the FAFSA” course offers an overview of the FAFSA and instruction booklet, walks learners step-by-step through the application, and reviews ways to file the FAFSA.

USA Funds also offers the online course to College Goal Sunday volunteers in the nine states and the District of Columbia where USA Funds sponsors the event. At College Goal Sunday, volunteers assist students and their families in completing the FAFSA. In addition to the District of Columbia, states that will host USA Funds-sponsored College Goal Sunday programs in 2007 include Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Nevada and Wyoming. The course is available to those who will assist students and families at the events; volunteers may access the course before and during their College Goal Sunday programs.

“Understanding the FAFSA” is one of 55 courses in USA Funds University’s online-learning curriculum. These courses are part of a comprehensive online program that helps student-workers and financial-aid and education-lending professionals enhance their skills. The online-learning courses are available at no cost to select schools.

In addition to FAFSA-filing advice, USA Funds University offers other courses for new and veteran financial-aid staff. USA Funds University’s curriculum also includes courses designed for education-lending professionals, financial-aid-office student-workers and medical-school financial-aid administrators.
