USA Funds Publications Assist in Planning, Paying for College
Publications that USA Funds® sponsored in January and February are providing families in eight states with information about the process of applying for financial aid and planning for college.
USA Funds sponsored the distribution of more than 2 million copies of “USA Funds Countdown to CollegeTM” in Arizona, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Mississippi and Wyoming — seven of the states that USA Funds serves as designated guarantor of federal education loans — and Florida.
- “USA Funds Countdown to College” appeared as a supplement to the Jan. 18 Hawaii Tribune-Herald and Honolulu Advertiser.
- Editions of the supplement appeared in the following newspapers on Feb. 1:
- The Indianapolis Star issued “USA Funds Countdown to College” on Feb. 8.
- The Miami Herald distributed the publication Feb. 13-15, and “USA Funds Countdown to College” appeared in the Feb. 15 issue of the Tallahassee Democrat.
- "USA Funds Countdown to College" appeared in the Feb. 22 edition of the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger.
- In Maryland 58 high schools distributed the publication to their seniors.
The publications appeared in states hosting College Goal Sunday, which USA Funds supports to help parents and students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
“USA Funds Countdown to College” also offers information about planning and paying for college, including articles about topics such as completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the need analysis and award packaging process, and federal and state sources of financial aid. Other articles focus on saving for higher education, college planning Web resources, and “financial aid success stories” from college students and graduates.
