USA Funds Loan Counselor Tip: Creating Custom Links

USA Funds Student Loan Transition Guide^SM, the online exit-counseling tool for undergraduate students, offers schools the option to create custom links within the loan-counseling-completion page. USA Funds Student Loan Transition Guide is the latest module in the USA Funds Loan Counselor^SM suite of custom counseling products.

By creating custom links, schools can direct their students to other Web pages, such as those about career services or loan repayment. Schools should follow these steps to create the links:

• From USA Funds Connection^® or OpenNet, proceed to your USA Funds Loan Counselor administration setup.
• Select “View or Edit Campus Settings.”
• Choose “Student Loan Transition Guide” to change the settings for the exit-counseling tool.
• From the “Campus Settings, Exit-Counseling Settings” screen, choose “Custom Content” from the left navigation bar or the link in the body text.
• The “Campus Settings, Exit-Counseling Settings, Custom Content” screen displays next. From this screen schools can create custom messages in the Loan Counseling Completion screen that students see when finishing online loan counseling. Items to customize include:
  • A free-form custom message field in which the school can enter data or paste text from word-processing software.
  • Up to three links to other Web pages that include a bolded heading, a display name from which the URL links, and the URL.
  • An option to enter the school’s Web-site address to be associated with a button that allows students to “Log out and Return to School Web site.”

The custom messages and links display on the exit screen for students in USA Funds Student Loan Transition Guide. When the borrower clicks on one of the links, the URL opens in a new window.

USA Funds Stafford Loan Guide^SM, USA Funds’ online entrance-counseling tool, will offer the option of setting custom links in its loan-counseling-completion page this fall.
