USA Funds Promotes Early Awareness in Arizona

USA Funds® is working with the education community in Arizona to promote early awareness of the benefits of postsecondary education and the steps families need to take to prepare their children for higher learning. Working in partnership, USA Funds and the Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education have developed "Measuring Your Child's Progress," an information packet for the parents of Arizona eighth-grade students.

The packet consists of a folder, which contains individual checklists for the middle-school grades and for grades nine through 12, with key steps parents need to make sure they and their children take to prepare academically and financially for higher education. The folder also includes a list of Web sites and other resources to help parents plan and pay for their children's postsecondary education or training. Inside the folder is a primer on sources of funding for higher education, a list of higher-education options, and the admission requirements for Arizona's three state universities.

The publication comes in both English and Spanish versions.

The information packet was developed in consultation with representatives of the Arizona Department of Education and the Arizona School Counselors Association. "Measuring Your Child's Progress" will be distributed to parents by their child's school counselor. The information packet is being unveiled at the Arizona Department of Education's Mega-Conference in Phoenix this week.

USA Funds serves as the designated guarantor of student loans for Arizona.
