USA Funds Co-Hosts Nevada Default-Prevention Workshops

In partnership with the Nevada System of Higher Education and the U.S. Department of Education, USA Funds® is co-hosting two default-prevention workshops in Nevada next week. The free workshops, “Nevada Student Success Through an Institutional Commitment to Retention and Default Prevention,” are scheduled for the following locations:

  • Feb. 6, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Truckee Meadows Community College, Reno.
  • Feb. 7, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Sunset Station Hotel, Henderson.

The workshops will feature Carol Buchli and George Covino of the USA Funds debt-management team. The agenda includes a review of the current state of default prevention, discussion about solving the retention puzzle, and development of action plans.

The workshops are structured to allow institutional teams of up to five people to develop institution-wide default-prevention plans. The workshops are designed for senior administrators from the financial-aid, student-affairs, and enrollment-management areas as well as the business office.

“Schools will leave the workshop with three to four interventions that they can implement as part of an action plan to reduce default rates,” says Grace Smith, USA Funds customer-relations manager for Nevada.

Nevada schools may register online for one of the workshops. For additional information, contact Smith at (480) 824-5708 or Sharon Wurm, Nevada System of Higher Education, at (775) 784-4901, Ext. 236.
