Education Department Announces FAFSA Simplification
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan has announced plans to simplify the Free Application for Federal Student Aid by allowing applicants to skip questions that don’t apply to them on the online FAFSA. The department also will ask Congress to eliminate two dozen financial questions on the FAFSA. Beginning next year, some FAFSA filers will be able to more easily retrieve federal income tax information needed to complete the form.
