USA Funds Supports Kansas Hotline to Answer Students' and Parents' Career and College Questions

USA Funds® recently provided a grant of more than $95,300 to continue the Career and Education Hotline for Kansas. Students and parents in Kansas can get answers to their questions about career and education options by calling the toll-free telephone hotline staffed by trained professionals.

Now in its second year, USA Funds® Career and Education Hotline for Kansas provides access to information about hundreds of careers, postsecondary institutions in Kansas and across the country, college majors, training programs and financial aid.

By calling the toll-free hotline — (866) 897-8111 — students and parents will receive answers to questions such as:

  • What programs does a particular university offer?
  • Which colleges and universities offer a specific major?
  • What types of financial aid are available for postsecondary studies?
  • What are the typical earnings for a specific occupation?
  • How does a student sign up to take college-admissions tests?

Trained information specialists staff the free, statewide hotline from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students and parents can leave voice messages for the hotline 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Specialists trained to respond to financial-aid questions also will be available during Kansas' College Goal SundaySM from 2 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2005. College Goal Sunday offers families the opportunity to get free expert help in filing for financial aid. Hotline-staffers will be able to answer any questions students or parents may have about filling out or filing the FAFSA.

"The hotline is a great resource for our customers in Kansas," said Valerie Walthall, USA Funds' Kansas customer-relations manager. "Students and parents easily can benefit from the one-stop-shopping service for college and career information. USA Funds is pleased to offer this service to help Kansas students plan and prepare for life beyond high school."
