USA Funds Debt Manager User Group Gives Tips, Provides Input

From sending a USA Funds® brochure to distributing holiday cards with financial-aid-office information, users of USA Funds Debt Manager® shared their best practices for reaching education-loan borrowers with loan-repayment information. Financial-aid administrators shared their suggestions at the second USA Funds Debt Manager national user group meeting, conducted recently in Indianapolis.

USA Funds Debt Manager is a Web-based tool that helps schools prevent student-loan defaults by helping schools connect with borrowers during school and after graduation.

Ten users of the product took part in the meeting to discuss USA Funds Debt Manager features, enhancements and usability.

Customers shared success stories and best practices related to their use of USA Funds Debt Manager. Some suggestions for successfully reaching education-loan borrowers included the following:

  • Including the USA Funds brochure “Deferment & Forbearance — Do You Need Student-Loan-Payment Relief?” with letters to borrowers.
  • Printing business cards with debt-management information, to provide borrowers for their reference.
  • Putting letters to borrowers on colored paper to draw attention to the materials.
  • Sending borrowers holiday cards with the message to contact the financial-aid office for repayment help.

The main purpose of the meeting was for USA Funds Debt Manager users to provide input about future enhancements to the tool, and participants worked in teams to prioritize their suggestions. The USA Funds Debt Manager development team will use those lists as it plans upcoming changes.

A total of 500 schools nationwide are using USA Funds Debt Manager. For more information about USA Funds Debt Manager, contact your USA Funds debt-management consultant.
