State Residency Requirement
To qualify for in-state tuition students must meet the following conditions:

The student, and the student's parent(s) or guardian(s), must have been a bona fide resident of this state for at least 12 consecutive months next preceding the residence determination date.
The student must not have been claimed as a dependent for tax purposes for at least 12 consecutive months next preceding the residence determination date by the student's parent(s) or guardian(s), who are not legal residents of the state.

Kamehameha Schools prepare students of Hawaiian ancestry from kindergarten through high school for higher-education opportunities. Students of Hawaiian Ancestry: The Kamehameha Schools Financial Aid and Scholarship Services department is committed to providing financial assistance to students.
Hawaii National Guard Youth Challenge Academy offers "at-risk" students a second chance to complete their high-school education.

State Financial-Aid Programs

Hawaii Community Foundation manages scholarships for 85 funds totaling $2.4 million for Hawaii residents.
University of Hawaii Scholarships.
Vocational Education Scholarships are offered to Hawaii residents enrolled in a vocational program in Hawaii.
