State Residency Requirement
To qualify for in-state tuition, you must have lived in Maryland for:

  • One year for public and independent four-year institutions.
  • Three months for community colleges and private career schools.
  • Other general criteria may apply.

Important: To qualify for federal and state financial aid, you must file the FAFSA. To ensure priority consideration for Maryland state scholarships and grants, your FAFSA must be submitted online or postmarked by March 1.
