Profiles in Superior Customer Service: A Go-To Source for Loan-Policy Answers

Brenda GradyWhen the president of Travel Institute of the Pacific needed answers about federal education-loan regulations, he turned to USA Funds®. The outstanding service that Brenda Grady, USA Funds policy adviser, provided in answering his questions prompted him to nominate her for a USA Funds “There for You” award.

“Pleasant, knowledgeable and extremely helpful — the lady is a gem!” wrote Frank Green of Honolulu’s Travel Institute of the Pacific in nominating Grady for the award.

Green, whose school is in the Federal Direct Loan Program, had a question about a student’s eligibility for federal education loans following a prior conditional loan discharge. After unsuccessful attempts to get clarification from other sources, he contacted Lorraine Teniya, USA Funds director, Hawaii customer relations.

“Within five minutes, I was speaking with Brenda Grady,” Green wrote. “Brenda not only knew the answers but was able to explain in a manner that I could follow and understand. She was able to quote me chapter and verse, and — again, within minutes — followed up our conversation with a hard-copy fax of the pertinent regulations.”

Based on Green’s nomination, Grady received the USA Funds “There for You” award for excellent service. Grady, who has been a USA Funds policy adviser for 11 years, says she was pleasantly surprised by Green’s nomination.

“Anyone who calls could expect a thorough explanation about how things work and why things work that way,” Grady says. “That’s the way I do my job.”
