One education-loan borrower who had repayment problems was so impressed with the help that she received from John Ledford that she called his supervisor. “She would like to see John rewarded for his superior service,” reported Operations Supervisor Brett Gilman.
The borrower told Gilman that, after unsuccessfully searching for ways to resolve her repayment issues, she spoke to Ledford. He worked with her to help her get back into current-repayment status.
“She was amazed at John’s ability to get through all of the details and provide her with a workable solution to her problem,” Gilman said of the borrower. “She is very relieved.”
Ledford, a default-prevention specialist, is one of 200 professionals who work on behalf of USA Funds® to help student-loan borrowers whose payments are seriously past-due avoid the consequences of default. Thanks in part to the efforts of Ledford and others working to assist borrowers, in fiscal 2004 USA Funds successfully averted default on more than 93 percent of seriously past-due accounts, thereby preventing more than $14 billion in loan defaults.
