Collection Specialist Sharla Edwards goes the extra mile to help borrowers who have defaulted on their education loans get back into repayment — and back on the road to good credit.
One of Edwards’ primary job responsibilities is to help defaulted borrowers rehabilitate their loans, a scenario that is the most-favorable default resolution for many borrowers. Loan rehabilitation requires a borrower to make nine, voluntary, on-time monthly payments within a 10-month period. When the borrower’s loans are rehabilitated, the guarantor’s reporting of the default is removed from the borrower’s credit report.
Through August, USA Funds’ fiscal 2006 loan-rehabilitation volume was $248 million, representing a 23-percent increase compared with that same time period for fiscal 2005. Edwards helped USA Funds achieve these outstanding loan-rehabilitation results; in March alone she assisted borrowers whose loans totaled nearly $1 million in establishing loan-rehabilitation programs.
“Sharla should be commended for this amazing accomplishment,” says Josh Courter, operations manager. “She is an absolute ray of sunshine.”
For her outstanding work to assist borrowers, Edwards received a USA Funds® “There for You” award. If you have received superior customer service from USA Funds, you can nominate the employee who delivered the service to receive recognition for being “There for You.”</p
